Trimjoist, Boise, Id., a leader in engineered wood products, has optimized its manufacturing and distribution to provide convenient availability of the TrimJoist floor system across the Pacific Northwest, Mountain West and California.
Leveraging its 56,000-sq. ft. in Kuna, Id.—launched in 2024, Trimjoist is meeting the increasing demand for high-efficiency framing solutions that reduce jobsite friction.
The TrimJoist system is the industry’s first open-web, field-trimmable floor joist, designed to bridge the gap between traditional I-joists and floor trusses.
• On-Site Adjustability: Each joist features a trimmable end, up to 12" on each side, allowing for accurate trimming in the field that may be required due to foundation or wall measurements that vary from the drawings.
• Integrated MEP Pass-Throughs: The open-web design eliminates the need for labor-intensive drilling or cutting for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) runs which maintains structural integrity and accelerates the construction schedule.
• Western-Sourced Materials: Production at the Idaho facility utilizes Douglas fir lumber, ensuring the product is tailored to the specific structural requirements and material preferences of western builders.
The expansion of Trimjoist’s western manufacturing operation strengthens product availability and shipping efficiency across the Western U.S., providing:
• Predictable Supply: Modular lengths manufactured to inventory help provide consistent availability and support tight multi-family and residential schedules.
• Cost-Effective Shipping: Regional production reduces transportation distances and helps lower freight costs.
• Domestic Manufacturing: All products are manufactured 100% in the United States, supporting a more stable and transparent supply chain.
Trimjoist is a third-generation manufacturer carrying forward a family legacy of joist innovation. What began with the development of truss manufacturing by the Sanford family evolved into the invention of the TrimJoist, the first open-web, field-trimmable floor joist. Today, with production facilities in Mississippi and Idaho, Trimjoist continues to build on that heritage, proudly manufacturing in the USA and delivering products and support to the construction industry.
