The Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association (ILMDA) has voted to rejoin The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) following a recent meeting of its board of directors.
ILMDA’s decision marks an important milestone for NLBMDA and reflects more than two years of ongoing conversations and collaboration to rebuild the relationship between the two organizations. The renewed partnership will strengthen the collective voice of lumber and building material dealers and reinforce the importance of working together to advance the interests of the industry.
ILMDA left NLBMDA in 2017. Two others, Northeastern Retail Lumber Association and Construction Suppliers Association, departed in 2021 and remain unaffiliated.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome ILMDA back to the NLBMDA community,” said Jonathan M. Paine, CAE, president and CEO of NLBMDA. “This is a significant win for our association and the dealers we represent. Rebuilding this relationship has been a priority for more than two years, and I’m grateful to everyone who contributed to making it happen. I look forward to working together to strengthen our industry and advance the issues that matter most to our members.”
The decision underscores the value of collaboration among state and national associations in representing lumber and building material dealers, advancing federal advocacy priorities, and supporting the long-term success of the industry.
“Rejoining NLBMDA opens the door to new opportunities for Illinois dealers to connect, collaborate, and help shape the future of our industry,” said Sara Decatoire, CAE, IOM, Executive Director of ILMDA. “By strengthening the link between our state and national associations, we can amplify our members’ voices and better support their businesses. We are excited about what we can accomplish together and the lasting value this partnership will bring to our members.”
NLBMDA looks forward to working closely with ILMDA leadership and its members to build a strong, productive partnership in the years ahead.
