The Orlandini family, owners of Altadena Hardware, Newhall Hardware, and Newland Hardware, has purchased Arnold’s Frontier Hardware, Sierra Madre, Ca., from current owner Basil Kruger, as well as the real estate from Jean Hatfield, the original owner of Arnold’s Hardware.

They will return Arnold’s Frontier Hardware to the name it first opened under 75 years ago: Arnold’s Hardware.

The store is located about five miles away from the  former site of Altadena Hardware, which was destroyed in the January 2025 Eaton Fire. The Orlandinis still hope to rebuild Altadena Hardware, but estimate the process could take up to five years.

Co-owner Jimmy Orlandini said, "This one is personal for us. After losing Altadena Hardware in the Eaton Fire, we learned how much a hardware store really means to a town; it’s not the inventory, it’s the people. Sierra Madre is just minutes away, and we’re honored to serve this community while we continue rebuilding."

Over the coming months, the inventory will expand, including the addition of Benjamin Moore paint, and a full remodeling will get underway, followed by a grand reopening celebration.

Arnold’s Hardware was founded in 1949 by Ollie Arnold, who was succeeded by Bob and Jean Hatfield, and then Kruger.
