Red Mill Lumber was acquired in 1997 by Kermit Schott, who passed away in 2010. Brent Poperechny has served as president since 2013.

Located in the Lakes Region of Maine, the sawmill and building supply company had originally specialized in rough sawn hemlock, sold to both retail (home owners and contractors) and wholesale. Building supplies included plywood, pressure treated, framing lumber (rough green and dressed kiln dried), insulation, roofing (shingles and steel), dressed pine, and hardware. It 2018 Poperechny began focusing more on timber mats.
