Decks & Docks Co., a leading pure-play specialty distributor of composite decking and outdoor living building products, has acquired J&W Lumber, Escondido, Ca. throughout Southern California. J&W’s six retail locations give Clearwater, Fl.-based Decks & Docks’ its first facilities on the West Coast.
J&W owner Clyde Jennings will continue leading the company, which will retain the same brand name its customers have known and trusted since the company’s founding in 1958. J&W’s entire team will remain with the company to ensure continuity of service and personalized care for customers at each location.
“J&W has a long history of operational excellence and providing its customers with the products they need to get the job done right,” said Shawn Roberts, CEO of Decks & Docks. “We are thrilled to welcome Clyde and his dedicated team into the Decks & Docks family and believe their highly complementary outdoor building products offerings and reputation for providing exceptional customer service will be essential to helping us expand across the country.”
J&W offers premium outdoor building materials including decking, railing and accessories throughout Southern California. According to Rozalyn Jennings, J&W’s inside/outside sales manager, “The partnership provides access to additional resources and opportunities for growth, but there are no immediate changes planned to our existing product offerings or customer experience.”
The J&W team serves a variety of customers, including homeowners, contractors, municipalities, dealers, manufacturers and architects.
Clyde Jennings noted, “My dad Charley founded J&W almost 70 years ago with a focus on personalized customer service and promoting talent from within. My team and I have gotten to know Decks & Docks quite well, and we’re confident we have found a great partner for us to continue J&W’s proud legacy of doing right by our customers and providing our employees with opportunities. Today marks a new development for us but in practice it is a continuation of J&W’s values and longstanding way of doing business. Founded in 1991, Decks & Docks is known as a one-stop shop for contractor customers, offering a comprehensive suite of products such as composite decking, railings, pilings and vinyl seawall. It serves multiple markets throughout the United States, operating a network of 76 locations across 24 states and shipping domestically and internationally.
The Jennings family also operates a wholesale division, CJ Redwood. “This partnership will not impact its operations,” said Rozalyn Jennings. “CJ Redwood will continue to operate as it does today, serving its customers and partners with the same products and service they have come to expect.”
