A new locally owned, full-service hardware store/lumberyard is coming this fall to Carencro, La.
Pelican Ace Hardware & Lumber will cover 11,000 sq. ft., with an additional 2,400 sq. ft. of warehouse space that will allow the business to stock lumber.
Wares on the hardware side will include a wide selection of tools, paint, electrical, plumbing, lawn and garden, grills, outdoor gear, and seasonal décor.
Owner William Hardwick sold his insurance business last year, after receiving a tip from his banker to consider opening an Ace Hardware. Ace is regularly ranked among the top 10 franchises in the U.S. in Entrepreneur magazine’s top 500 franchises; this year it's number five.
Hardwick is renovating the site, which had sat vacant for about a decade after operating for about 60 years as Carencro Builders Supply.
Hardwick is targeting a Sept. 1 opening.
