Orgill’s retail subsidiary, Central Network Retail Group (CNRG), is expanding its presence in the Minneapolis metropolitan area through the asset acquisition of Terry’s Hardware, a well-respected retailer that has served the community of Hastings, Mn., for nearly five decades.

Orgill indicates that after a short transition period, Terry’s Hardware will be reintroduced to the community as part of CNRG’s Frattallone’s Hardware & Garden brand, bringing the total to 21 locations currently operating under the Frattallone’s banner throughout the greater Minneapolis area.

Terry’s Hardware was founded in 1978 by Chuck and Darlene Terry, and throughout the years has earned a reputation as a reliable, home improvement resource for residents and businesses within the Hastings’ community, which is located about 30 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.

More recently, the store has been run by Chuck and Darlene’s son, Pete Terry along with his wife Carissa. Together, this second-generation of family ownership has continued to grow the business and worked to enhance the operation to better serve local customers.

The Terry family’s decision to sell the business was prompted by Pete and Carissa’s upcoming retirement. As they approached this next chapter in their lives, they wanted to ensure that the business their family founded remained in good hands and the community would continue to have a reliable resource for their home improvement needs.

This acquisition also reflects a deep, long-standing relationship between the Terry and Frattalone families, who have known each other for more than 50 years and share a mutual dedication to independent hardware retailing in the Minneapolis area.

“We are excited and honored to carry on the strong legacy of community-focused service that has been the hallmark of Terry’s Hardware for decades,” says Craig Cowart, president of CNRG. “The Terry family built an outstanding business that has served this community well, and through CNRG and under the Frattallone’s Hardware & Garden brand, we look forward to continuing that tradition.”

CNRG says it is committed to a seamless transition, with customers expected to experience minimal disruption during the process.

“Our goal is to preserve everything that made Terry’s Hardware such a valued part of the community while enhancing the product selection and resources available to customers,” Cowart adds. “We believe the improvements we have planned will strengthen the business while honoring the legacy the Terry family created, and we think customers throughout the Hastings community will be very pleased with the enhancements we make.”

Details regarding store updates and a grand re-opening under the Frattallone’s brand will be announced in the coming weeks.
