Northern Crossarm Co., Chippewa Falls, Wi., has been sold after 103 years of Bischel family ownership.

Peder Anderson, a longtime employee with over 30 years of experience and who shares the same family values, has purchased the business from Pat Bischel, who is retiring.

Bishcel started helping out at the company at the age of 8, sweeping floors, picking up trash, and performing other light-duty jobs. From there, he had the opportunity to be a part of every aspect of the business.

"For the last 65 years, it is the only job I have had," Bischel said. "When I first started with Northern Crossarm, we were involved in the manufacture and sale of wood crossarms to telephone and power companies. Eventually we became involved in the wood preservative industry.  It has been an amazing experience, being part of a growing company in an exciting industry. I could not have asked for a better place to spend my career."

A retirement party will be held for Bischel on Oct. 16 for customers, suppliers and friends.
