Hampton Lumber, Portland, Or., is opening a new sales office in Peachtree City, Ga., to market and sell southern yellow pine.

Hiring of wholesale lumber traders is underway for what will serve as the commercial backbone for Hampton Lumber’s recent major expansion into the U.S. South, which includes building a $225-million SYP sawmill in Allendale, S.C., now in the final stages of construction. Production at the 375,000-sq. ft. facility is expected to begin in early 2027.

Operating as Hampton Lumber's Southern Yellow Pine Sales Division, the office is spearheaded by Eric Kjode, who serves as general manager of southern pine sales. Kjode is a 25-year forestry industry veteran who transitioned from Interfor, where he was previously a GM overseeing southern yellow pine sales and strategy.
