Gillfor Manufacturing has finalized the acquisition of the Teal-Jones Group’s Surrey, Sumas and TFL 46 operations, pursuant to the British Columbia Supreme Court reverse vesting order granted on Sept. 18. Gillfor is now the sole owner of these operations and has full control of the business going forward.
Holdings include multiple specialized milling facilities in Surrey, B.C.; a planer mill in Sumas, Wa.; and harvesting rights to the public land portion of the TFL 46 forest tenure on southwestern Vancouver Island.
This acquisition preserves vital forestry infrastructure and hundreds of jobs, supports local communities, and strengthens the foundation of British Columbia’s coastal forest industry.
Under the reverse vesting order, all excluded pre-closing claims and liabilities have been transferred out of the business and remain with the CCAA estate, administered by the Monitor. The new Teal-Jones Group operations continue under Gillfor’s ownership on a clean footing. All claims, invoices, or issues up to and including Oct. 30, 2026 must be directed to the Court-appointed Monitor, Ernst & Young Inc.
Gillfor’s combined business brings together expertise in western red cedar, hemlock, and Douglas fir, supported by established sawmilling operations, value-added manufacturing, distribution, and longstanding global relationships. Together, we will expand our product offering and strengthen supply and marketing capabilities through efficient management, manufacturing, and innovation.
The Teal-Jones Group operating name will remain, and contact personnel are unchanged.
“The CCAA process has been long and demanding for everyone involved. With the transaction complete, we look forward to putting it behind us and focusing on the future, returning this business to long-term success for our employees, partners, and the coastal forest industry. I respect and recognize Tom and Dick Jones for their longstanding contributions to the forest industry. I wish them good health and success,” said Gary Gill, chairman of Gillfor Group
