Domtar is restarting its Glenwood, Ar., sawmill on March 31, following a near-six-month closure due to weak lumber demand.

The company stopped purchasing logs last September and idled the mill on October 10, putting more than 100 people out of work.

Employees ran 10 logs through the mill yesterday morning, but will ramp up production slowly.

The mill produces southern yellow pine dimensional lumber and radius edge decking. Domtar acquired the facility in 2023, two years after Resolute Forest Products spent $8.4 million to expand its capacity.
