Do it Best Group is moving forward with the next phase of its distribution-network integration, with plans to close its Springfield, Or., and Kingman, Az., facilities before the end of the year and transition the business they serve to larger facilities in Woodburn, Or., and Mesquite, Nv.

The moves are part of a broader effort to eliminate duplicate infrastructure, improve productivity and reduce logistics costs—work that has already eliminated well over $250 million in future lease obligations, bolstering the company’s ability to return value to its members.

“We are making deliberate decisions about where and how we operate so our combined network can serve members more effectively,” said Tim Miller, chief logistics officer of Do it Best Group. “Since the acquisition, we have optimized routes and eliminated several million delivery miles. Consolidating operations into fewer facilities will further reduce duplication and allow us to focus our resources where they can deliver the greatest value for our members.”

The announcement came in concert with new that Do it Best Group closed fiscal year 2026 with $5 billion in consolidated sales, a 3.8% increase over the previous fiscal year, and will distribute $132.9 million in patronage to its member-owners. The results accompany measurable progress integrating True Value and building a more efficient combined company.

“Our members expect us to turn the strength of this company into results they can use in their businesses,” said Dan Starr, CEO of Do it Best Group. “The $132.9 million patronage distribution is one measure of that value. The progress we are making in merchandising, distribution and innovation shows how we are putting our greater scale to work every day.”

Do it Best Group has reached 92% SKU alignment between Do it Best and True Value, following a review of more than 50,000 products across the two businesses. Work that ordinarily could have taken three years was completed in a matter of months, giving the company a clearer, more focused assortment and allowing it to concentrate purchasing power behind the products and programs that can help members sell more and protect margin.

The company’s merchandising teams also completed more than 100 line reviews since January, using increased purchasing scale to negotiate sharper costs and expanded vendor programs, strengthen assortments and reduce unnecessary product duplication. To date, the work has improved cost of goods by 9% to 12% in some categories.

The integration is also strengthening vendor and category programs across paint, fasteners, plumbing, safety, outdoor, lighting and other areas.

At Fall Market, Do it Best Group will introduce new technology designed to help members create demand, serve customers more effectively and use business insight to make stronger decisions. The new capabilities are moving beyond concept: one is already being used by members, while others are in active development and testing.

Retail Pulse is already helping participating members and their territory sales managers identify opportunities, sharpen assortments, improve inventory productivity and make stronger decisions. At Fall Market, the company will expand Retail Pulse to Do it Best and True Value members with compatible POS systems, add SKU-level analysis and introduce a member-facing version so members and their territory sales managers can work from the same data and insights. Early Retail Pulse users have applied its category and peer comparisons to update order points and pricing rules, invest in planograms for underperforming core categories and distinguish between successful sales strategies and areas where margin improvement is needed.

Do it Best Group will also preview a loyalty mobile app scheduled to launch in spring 2027 as part of a broader ecommerce program update. The app will connect customers directly to their local store, allowing them to search products, check real-time availability, use rewards, review past purchases, choose fulfillment options and use mobile payment methods. A parallel Best Rewards version will give independently branded stores the same functionality under a different brand wrapper, with a True Value experience planned for mid-2027.

In addition, members will get an early look at an AI-powered solution designed to support the human-to-human project consultations that distinguish independent stores.

Together, the capabilities create a practical cycle: help members attract and engage customers, improve the in-store experience, learn from what happened and use those insights to make the next customer interaction stronger.

“We have made significant investments in technology, but investment alone does not create member value,” Starr said. “The work now is putting those capabilities into our members’ hands—making them easier to adopt and helping members put them to work in their businesses.”

Do it Best Group will bring the work together at its Fall Market, Sept. 25–28 in Indianapolis, where members can explore new assortments, merchandising opportunities and retail capabilities and identify the opportunities that can make the greatest difference in their businesses.

The 15,000-sq. ft. Planogram Zone will feature expertly merchandised, data-driven assortments designed to make categories easier to shop and help members maximize sales opportunities. Registered attendees will also have access to more than 700 VIP Deals available only to members in attendance, featuring some of the best pricing of the year. In Contractor Solutions, members will find dozens of pro-focused product categories, including fasteners, adhesives, safety gear and accessories, presented in high-impact formats designed to make productive use of retail space.

Headquartered in Fort Wayne, In., the Do it Best Group is the world’s largest hardware, lumber, and building materials buying cooperative in the home improvement industry.
