KODIAK BUYS SOUTHEAST’S SUNRISE

Kodiak Building Partners has acquired two-unit Sunrise Builders Supply of Mississippi and Tennessee.

Led by its president, Charles Thomas, Sunrise was founded in Horn Lake, Ms., in 1996 to provide building supplies to builders, contractors and DIY homeowners in northern Mississippi and southern Tennessee. A second location was added in 2019 in Arlington, Tn., and now supplies lumber, engineered wood, trusses, hardware, tools, paint and more.

The acquisition brings Kodiak’s total owned-and-operated footprint to over 100 locations in 25 states, expanding its reach as well as strengthening its operational expertise.

Thomas said, “Being part of a national company like Kodiak will provide increased growth opportunities for our business and employees as well as access to new vendors. For our customers, Sunrise will continue to deliver the same premium products and service excellence they expect from us, supplemented by the resources Kodiak can now provide.”

“We have been studying growth opportunities in the southeastern market for some time, and Sunrise Builders Supply stood out as a like-minded partner focused on customer-first service and deep relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and the local community,” said Steve Swinney, CEO of Kodiak. “We look forward to a bright future and to welcoming Sunrise’s team to the Kodiak family.”
