UFP Purchases Hardwood Manufacturer, Treater
(March 9, 2017) Universal Forest Products, Grand Rapids, Mi., has closed on the purchase of certain assets of hardwood component manufacturer Quality Hardwood Sales, Nappanee, In., and wood treater Robbins Manufacturing Co., Tampa, Fl.
Quality Hardwood is Universal’s first operation devoted to hardwood products and will expand the Universal portfolio, while providing Quality with additional markets for its products and the opportunity to grow its customer base and product offering.
Quality Hardwood was founded in 2001 and has enjoyed steady success throughout its history. Net sales in 2016 were approximately $30 million. The current management team will remain with the company.

Universal also completed its purchase of Robbins Manufacturing Co., Tampa, Fl., including five of the company’s six treating plants in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.
Robbins will continue operating its facility in Tarrytown, Fl.
