Emerson & Sons Hardware and Lumber Yard, Groveton, N.H., has closed after 68 years, with hopes to reopen by early August.

Owner Jim Emerson liquidated most of his inventory through late April, then closed the doors for an estimated 100 days-about the time it will take to process his application for a business development grant.

He hopes to reopen in August, with "bigger and better things."
